NBA Finals, 7 The Hard Way

NBA Finals, 7 The Hard Way!

The Miami Heat will host game 7 of the NBA Finals and possibly hoist the Championship trophy over their heads for the second straight year, standing in their way are the four time Champions San Antonio Spurs. Its the NBA Finals, 7 the hard way and no one knows that better then Ray Allen who saved the Heats season with a three pointer from the corner that took the game into overtime. Everyone witnessing the game probably thought the Spurs would be celebrating their fifth NBA Championship on the Heats home floor, but not the Miami Heat Players...

As fans were heading towards the exit in the fourth quarter Heat players were clawing their way back into a game that seemed to be all but lost... NBA officials were roping off the floor, the trophy was being positioned all while the game was still being played. During the posting game interviews several of the Miami Heat players said this was big motivation for the team, they were not going to have a celebration in their house that night... The Heat continue on, its the NBA Finals 7 the hard way!

Playing in the NBA Finals is the dream of every kid hoping to one day put on an NBA uniform, but playing in a game 7 in front of the home fans and family doesn't get any better then that! If you're superstitious you may think game six and the to three pointers Lebron James and Ray Allen hit to get the Heat to a NBA Finals game 7 the hard way is a sign for Miami, but the Spurs have come back to win the every time they've lost this series and that could spell trouble for the Heat... Whatever the outcome of tonight's game 7, game 6 was one for the ages...

NBA Finals, 7 The Hard Way! May Just Be The Best Way!

The best thing about game 7 is its for all the marbles, you don't get another shot! Its win or loose, you have a great summer or you're reliving every mistake and second guessing every play... Tonight fans will be glue to the television packed into the Heat arena or inside the Spurs arena, tonight is the NBA's Superbowl... It's the NBA Finals, 7 the hardy!

Is There A Doc In The House?

Is There A Doc In The House?

Boston Celtics fans have enjoyed the benefits of having Doc Rivers as their Head Coach for the last decade, during his run he brought the organization another Championship and energized the Celtics pride once more. All this talk about him possibly going to another team has fans wondering is there a Doc in the house? Things have heated up between the Celtics and Doc because of the ongoing dialog between Doc and the Los Angeles Clippers. What started out as just whispers around the league as just speculation has become full blown negotiation, including talk of future Hall of Famer Kevin Garnett as a possible piece of the puzzle.

Boston General Manager Danny Ainge and Doc Rivers have enjoyed a great relationship over the years publicly, one can only speculate this situation could put a strain on the two mens friendship and jeopardize any possible return of Doc Rivers as Head Coach... As for the reports of him going to the Clippers as their Head Coach it would be great for the fans in LA. The Clippers have a great team of young talent that could use a Coach with Doc's experience, its no wonder why Clipper fans are hoping there is a Doc in the house!

Is there a Doc in the house? Currently Doc Rivers remains the acting Head Coach of the Boston Celtics but as the drama continues to boil you wonder if the Celtics will draw a line in the sand or fire him. This situation is very interesting because Doc is a very good Head Coach so you wonder if they do fire him what would be the reason? Has there been things developing behind the scene that we haven't been privy too? Like most things we will soon find out, the media will dig up all the dirt there is! Personally speaking I think Doc Rivers is perfect for the job with the LA Clippers, he's a well spoken media savvy guy that will take the Clippers more mainstream!

If Doc Rivers ends up Coaching the Clippers there's one thing for sure, you'll see the Clippers in prime time a lot more then you ever have in the past! At The Point

At The Point!

Former New York Knicks point guard Jason Kidd is the new Head Coach for the Brooklyn Nets, he's gone from the floor to the bench but he's still at the point! Kidd has always been a coach on the floor and is known to be well respected by players, his transition into the ranks of Head Coach was expected but maybe not this quick... His selection comes with some trepidation by the prognosticators but to his peer group there's no surprise at all.

There are many former guards that have gone onto experience great success as Head Coaches in the NBA for example; Doc Rivers, Avery Johnson, Byron Scott and Scott Skiles to name a few. I would expect Jason Kidd to join the ranks of a player at the point that does well long term. The big surprise is that the Nets passed on Indiana Pacers Assistant Head Coach Brian Shaw, who has worked with the Los Angeles Lakers under Phil Jackson during the Championship years. Shaw would be more then qualified, even more so then Kidd. In this particular situation, Brooklyn Nets couldn't loose either way!

the Brooklyn Nets current general at the point is Deron Williams, both Jason Kidd and Williams are good friends and have been for years. The relationship between the two is expected to be one of mutual respect and could work well together given the fact Kidd was a player this year and understands the demands placed on a point guard. Williams just wants to win and his direction on the court has been important to every team he's played for. If nothing else its going to be an exciting team to watch when the NBA kicks off next season...

At The Point, Jason Kidd Takes Head Coach Position

Do you think Jason Kidd will be successful as a Head Coach having not spent anytime working as an apprentice under an experienced Coach or will his time at the point be all the experience he'll need? Some players that have been out of the league for years have still not been given the opportunity to be a Head Coach, guys like Patrick Ewing and Brian Shaw may feel its unfair for guys to get a shot at the top without paying their dues. I think Kidd has been preparing for this for several years and is more then ready to take the point to start his second career...

Jamarcus Russell On The Road To Redemtion

Jamarcus Russell On The Road To Redemption

The one time NFL #1 Draft Pick of the Oakland Raiders has seen his share of disappointment during his short lived career but America loves a comeback story and it looks like the former QB's biography may not have its ending yet. If he were writing a book he could call it, "Jamarcus Russell On The Road To Redemption." He has been working extremely hard to earn a shot at playing in the NFL once again, he's lost at least fifty (50) pounds so far and still seems to have a cannon attached to his shoulder. I don't know if he is mentally or physically equipped to play in the NFL, more importantly, if he's mature enough to handle the demands he'll face if he gets the shot.
Oakland Raiders #1 Pick
Can he still play at the NFL level? Who knows! Does he deserve another opportunity to play in the league? If he can physically do it, then absolutely! America loves a good comeback story and this would be a great story! All he has to do is win and everything else will just be part of his future novel. We've seen so many athletes with worst reasons why they had to leave the game for personal issues and then given the opportunity to return to play. It always comes down to can he help a franchise win, if they believe he can then he will get the chance to try.

I'd kinda like to see him back in the NFL, I'd like to see just how strong an arm he's got and if the hype was justified. Hell he was just a kid when he was given all that money and the pressure of taking the Raiders to the promise land. The Raiders were a mess, the pressure of a spotlight glaring over him was bright enough to blind him and it was way too much money for a kid... You have probably seen the latest feature story about the young QB hopeful and I think Jamarcus Russell is on the road to redemption!

Jamarcus Russell On The Road To Redemption, Final Thoughts

The good news for Jamarcus is he's got a rocket of an arm and you can't buy or teach that! As long as he continues to show signs of maturity on and off the field we should see him back on some teams sidelines. If Tim Tebow can continue to land on and NFL team, Jamarcus Russell's road to redemption should end under bright lights.

NBA Finals Game 1

NBA Finals Game 1

NBA fans around the World were treated to a great home opener in Miami Florida, neither the Miami Heat or San Antonio Spurs disappointed. NBA Finals Game 1 has been every bit of what the prognosticators predicted, youth and athleticism against age and experience. The story lines for the series and both teams are worthy of two Championship organizations with a history. No one thought the Spurs would be intimidated by the defending Champs or their super star King James, what wasn't expected was to see how well the Spurs would keep up with the athleticism of the Heat.
Fans that watched NBA Finals game 1 witnessed two very good teams that have great respect for their opponent, both teams realize they are capable of beating each other and every possession counts! For the Spurs to go into Miami and take the first game is huge but the Heat have not lost back to back games in more then seventeen (17) playoff games. By far the biggest shot of the game was the Tony Parker bucket with five (5) seconds to go in the fourth putting the Spurs up by four (4).
Biggest Shot of the Night!

These two teams seem to be well matched but as we saw during the Indiana Pacers series against the Heat the size of the Spurs in the middle maybe a problem! More importantly Tim Duncan is a much more experienced player and will surely cause the Heat some issue. If the Heat are going to repeat the big three are going to have to bring it every game and the roll players are gonna have to do a better job on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball... As for LeBron James he can not be a passive facilitator, it's got to be more aggressive.

NBA Finals Game 1, Fired Up Spurs!

This series will shine a light on both Coaches, Eric Spoelstra has certainly done a good job of managing his super stars but this is the NBA Finals game 1 of the Championship Series and the Antonio Spurs are a more then worthy opponent!!! I for one thought the Heat would roll through the NBA this season until they ran into the Pacers and I believe they were exposed...

Blackhawks Roll

Blackhawks Roll

The Chicago Blackhawks roll over the Los Angeles Kings and take a 2-0 lead to Los Angeles for game three. The speed of the Blackhawks was just too much for the Kings who looked sluggish at best. Jonathan Quick had a rough night to say the least allowing four goals in the 4-2 lost, the good news for the Kings is they are now heading home for the next two games and they've been in this position before. They're hoping the familiarity of their home turf and the experience of having gone through this before will result in the same success!
Andrew Shaw #65

Blackhawk fans have a lot to be excited about, the team seem to be clicking on all cylinders while the Kings haven't had any answers for the speed and aggressive play. If the Kings don't regroup and recover from this 2-0 start, the Blackhawks roll will continue... LA Kings fans must bring a ton of energy when the Kings return home to begin their stand. Kings fans love their team and have been extremely supportive throughout their existence but if the team is going to dig its way out of this hole its gonna take all the Kings men to put them back on the right track...

What A Fan has in the past been accused of not posting enough about Hockey or its fans and we agree! I tell people all the time even though the sport may not be as popular as the NFL or the big three, there is no better time to watch this sport then during the Playoff's and a teams Championship run! This is an exciting game! Its got everything American sports fans love and are drawn to and its unfortunate its not massively supported here in the States. The Blackhawks roll through this 2013 season they have brought a great deal of attention to the sport, maybe this time next year Hockey will be a big part of What A Fan!

Blackhawks Roll And Hope It Continues!

The Chicago Blackhawks organization its players and fan base hope the Blackhawks roll will continue on the road. They're two wins away from hoisting the Stanley Cup over their heads and closing out, potentially, one of their most successful seasons. All of us at What A Fan will be watching along with the fans of both teams, game 3 in Los Angeles Stable Center is going to be rocking...

Stop The Violence, Enough Is Enough

Stop The Violence, Enough Is Enough

This past week Matt Fortese who's been a life long New York Yankee's fan drove 75 miles to watch his team take on the Baltimore Orioles. He was meeting a date, which would be their second, he was taking to the game until it all went terribly bad. Two men that didn't like Matt wearing a Yankee's cap decided to beat him senseless! Matt is currently in serious condition and the two idiots, now in custody, have changed his life forever... Events as senseless as this effect true sports fans deeply, it's time we stop the violence, enough is enough...
Faces of Shame!

Just a few years ago Byran Stow a San Fransisco Giants fan was brutally beat in the parking lot at a Dodgers game, this incident set off serious concern amongst not only sports fans but the teams they cheer for as well... It was time to take a closer look at the issue of visiting fans safety. A concerned fan in Oakland California decided to do more then just talk, she jumped into action. Sports fans lite up the social networks displaying their anger over a fellow fan being injured and support for him and his family... Fans Against Violence was born. Its time to stop the violence, enough is enough!!!
Bryan Stow Leaving the Hospital

Horrific assaults like this recent one of Matt Fortese is a sad reminder of how important it is for teams to be more aware of the issues surrounding visiting fans safety. Teams can not survive on their fan base alone, visiting fans are equally as important and should be treated with the same respect extended to the home teams fans!!!! Well publicized assaults on visiting fans like this is not good for the team, the city or its fan base. What message are you sending to other visiting fans who have planned to attend their favorite teams game. To the fans of all sports and every city across America, stop the violence, enough is enough...

Stop The Violence, Enough Is Enough!

When will fans realize FANS HAVE MORE IN COMMON THEN DIFFERENCE! Violence towards another sports fan that's representing their team is just beyond stupid... Be responsible and respectful of visiting fans help stop the violence, enough is enough! We see and hear some pretty remarkably stupid things from fans but we're not built to judge, we are here to honor and support fans, it's time you honor yourselves...Violence just leads to more violence and we need to remember that our actions dictate and represent our team!
Join them on Facebook!

Take a moment and look at yourself in the mirror. Ask yourself, do I walk the walk? Am I representing my team to the up most respect? Am I doing everything in my power to motivate other fans to take care of each instead of provoking violence? Let's join forces and STOP THE VIOLENCE, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!

Join What A Fan in Orlando Florida for the First Annual Sports Fan Conference August 30th to September 1st Labor Day Weekend. Fans from around the country will be attending and one of the work shops is specifically about fan on fan violence. It will be a weekend of celebration with passionate caring and supportive sports fans, knuckleheads need not attend...!!!
